StubHub announces most popular events of 2022

StubHub has announced its list of the most popular live events of 2022.

According to ticket sales, StubHub says Elton John was the most popular touring artist worldwide based on cumulative ticket sales on both StubHub North America and Viagogo.

The list includes:

1. Elton John
2. Harry Styles
3. Coldplay
4. Bad Bunny
5. Mötley Crüe
6. Morgan Wallen
7. Billie Eilish
8. Garth Brooks
9. Adele
10. Justin Bieber

As for sporting events, the top ticket sales went to the World Series games between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies, according to StubHub. It was a cumulative total when it came to both the top event and the second most popular, the FIFA World Cup.

The list includes:

1. The World Series
2. The FIFA World Cup
3. Super Bowl LVI (Los Angeles Rams vs. Cincinnati Bengals)
4. College Football Playoff National Championship (Georgia vs. Alabama)
5. San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams — NFC Championship
6. Tennessee Volunteers at Georgia Bulldogs (College Football)
7. Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix
8. MLB All-Star Game
9. Formula 1 Austin Grand Prix
10. Red River Showdown: Oklahoma vs. Texas (College Football)

StubHub believes that in 2023, Los Angeles and New York will be the leading cities when it comes to entertainment followed by Miami, Las Vegas and Paris.

The ticket sellers say that Elton John will once again be a leader in next year, but will have some competition from Taylor Swift and Coldplay.

“This year demonstrated that pent-up demand from the pandemic is continuing to drive exceptional sales for global touring acts and sporting events around the world,” Cris Miller, StubHub’s chief business officer, said in a news release. “The sales, headlines and trends we saw this year are strong indications that next year may very well be a record-breaking one with Miami and Paris as markets to watch, while Taylor Swift and Coldplay are acts we anticipate will top lists in 2023.”
