PERRY COUNTY, Ark. — Officials in Perry County, Arkansas are investigating after a body was reportedly found near the Ouachita National Forest.
In a news release, Perry Country Sheriff Ricky Don Jones said deputies received a call Saturday afternoon that two hikers reportedly found what they believed to be a dead body in the Ouachita National Forest.
The body of a male was located in “a very rugged and steep area” about 40 feet down an overlook, authorities said.
According to KARK, the body was identified as that of Christopher Scott, 36.
Conway Fire Department’s special operations rescue unit helped to get the body, according to KARK.
“I want to thank Conway Fire Department for their help, in this case, there was no way possible my people could’ve done what we needed done safely,” said Jones in the news release.

The investigation is ongoing.No cause or manner of death has been released.
