According to a news release, the first shipment originated from Hong Kong and was en route to a private residence in Richmond, Virginia, when it was intercepted Aug. 5. Although the parcel had a declared value of only $319, the seized package held 275 fake Cartier Love bracelets. The suggested manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the bracelets totaled nearly $3.3 million had they been authentic.

A second shipment, also arriving from Hong Kong, was seized later that night after officers discovered 385 counterfeit yellow gold Cartier bracelets and 115 white gold Cartier bracelets. The 500 counterfeit bracelets would have had a total MSRP of $3.2 million, had they been real, the agency stated.

Meanwhile, CBP officers on Aug. 6 seized a third shipment, also originating from Hong Kong, containing 13 fake Rolex watches. The counterfeit timepieces, which were en route to a business in Mesquite, Texas, would have been worth more than $405,000 had they been genuine, according to the agency.

“These large seizures illustrate the work our officers do every day to protect our country, its citizens, and the economy,” LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, director of field operations for the agency’s Chicago field office, stated.
