Alexander appeared in season 6 of the talent competition program in 2011. His performance included making his wife and assistant appear out of nowhere, People magazine reported.

He was eliminated in the quarterfinal round that year, TMZ reported. He had made a gospel choir disappear, but it didn’t get him enough votes to remain in the competition, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Alexander’s wife, Jenny Alexander, announced his death, saying that he had a stroke while working on a cruise ship. He died in St. Kitts on Sunday and was not with his family at the time, she explained on Instagram.

The couple had performed together on tour and in Las Vegas right after they were done with college. But then put the shows on pause while they raised a family. After raising three kids, he wanted to jump back on the Vegas stage, Scott Alexader said during the competition, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Scott Alexander left behind his wife and three children, People magazine reported.
