Death investigation underway in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A death investigation has shut down a portion of County Road 220 in Clay County.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said that at 2:19 a.m. Monday, a person called 911 after finding a person lying in the road in the 3000 block of County Road 220.

The person was taken to Orange Park Medical Center where he died. An age or identity has not been released at this time.

“Foul play is suspected, however, there are no indications of an ongoing threat to the community,” CCSO said.

Deputies are asking people to avoid the area.
