Bastille announces new album, 'Give Me the Future'

Bastille's new album has a title and a release date.

The fourth studio effort from the "Pompeii" outfit is titled Give Me the Future, and arrives February 4, 2022. A press release describes the album as a "tribute to humanity in a tech age" that "reflects on the strangeness of living through times that can feel like science fiction" -- a theme that frontman Dan Smith had settled on even before the COVID-19 pandemic started.

"Working on these songs in such an apocalyptic period, with everyone stuck at home, glued to screens, fed into the feeling that what is real and what is not has become pretty difficult to discern sometimes," Smith explains.

"We're in the age of deep fake, fake news and lying world leaders," he adds. "But online, you can be anyone. What that does to our sense of self and to our relationships is huge, and it's fascinating."

Give Me the Future includes the previously released songs "Distorted Light Beam," "Thelma + Louise" and the title track. A fourth cut, titled "No Bad Days," is out today via digital outlets.

The album also features a spoken word piece called "Promises" by The Night Of and Sound of Metal star Riz Ahmed.

Here's the Give Me the Future track list:
