Was Lane Kiffin the Real Winner of the College Football Championship?

The Clemson Tigers may have shocked the world by beating Alabama in the College Football Playoffs to win the 2016 Championship, but if you ask Twitter there was a different winner.

Earlier in the week amid reports of laziness, and lack of focus, ‘Bama Head Coach Nick Saban decided to dismiss lame-duck Offensive Coordinator Lane Kiffin days before the championship game against Clemson.

Users of Twitter all around the world seem to think the loss vindicates the former coordinator, and now current Head Coach of Florida Atlantic University.

Jacksonville Suns changing to Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp

According to the Florida Times-Union, Suns ownership plans to formally announce the name switch during a press conference at 10 this morning inside the Times-Union Center.

Team officials did tell WOKV News yesterday that there is a "major announcement" scheduled for that date, time and location, but wouldn't confirm at this point if it has to do with the team name.

If that switch is made, it would be the first name change since 1991, when Jacksonville returned to the Suns logo after changing to the Expos in 1984.

Prior to that, the Suns name has been in place every year since 1962, except for the 1969 season. Jacksonville didn't have a minor league baseball team at all that year after the New York Mets moved their AAA ballclub to Virginia.

The Suns returned the following season, joining the AA Southern League, where they have won six league titles despite several affiliation changes with various Major League Baseball clubs, including the Kansas City Royals, Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Since 2009, the Suns have been the AA affiliate of the Florida (now Miami) Marlins.

Ownership of the Suns changed at the end of the 2015 season when the Bragan family - which owned the franchise since 1984 - sold it to Ken Babby of Fast Forward Sports Group, also the owners of the Akron RubberDucks. That franchise was known as the Aeros until the RubberDucks name was born in 2014.
